The 5 Questions We Ask Before Opening Figma

Before any interface takes shape, we need to understand the world it will live in. We run a short research sprint with every partner, and it always begins with the same five questions.

Who is the product for, and what is their current workaround? What does success look like for the business, and for the user? Where is the riskiest assumption we are making? What is the one thing this product must do better than anything else? And finally, what will we decide in the first week that we cannot easily undo later?

These questions sound simple, but they force a shared language between design, product and engineering. The answers become the brief. The brief becomes the north star. The rest is craft.
